Crafty Reading Corners

With no job, I am getting very antsy and designing and redesigning my fictional classroom in my mind (and now, my blog).  The thing I am most excited about is my reading corner.  I have been thinking about this for three years since my first day of student teaching.  I had this awesome supervisor who talked about her reading tent, cave, island with palm trees etc.  I am pretty crafty so I knew I had to do something of the sort one day.  I have been surfing the internet and I found some great ideas on this website: Rocking Kids.  This is one of my favorites:

I love the jungle theme, and here is a cute way to work in the daily 5:

But here are a couple other adorable ideas:

(I hope I gave due credit on these)

I am thinking I will have to be able to switch it up halfway through the year because I just love all of these.  I wish I could change the theme based on our units.  ( Some of you experienced teachers are probably rolling your eyes right about now, thinking "yeah right wishful thinking,"  but I guess those are the crazy delusions of a first year teacher).  I like to think I can pull this off, and I will surely try, but it will be interesting to see how it comes out... for now, all I can hope is a have a classroom to put this in next year!

  3. I am a returning teacher after hiatus for several years, so this year is my "first" year getting back to teaching after a long long time. I love those ideas of a reading corner. I am putting up a tree near one wall near my reading corner, that I just might add one of these ideas too. Love them. Keep dreaming, and I will keep following and encouraging.

  4. I just finished my first semester of college so I have a couple of years to go before being a fist year teacher, but I can't wait! I'm glad I'm not the only one dreaming of my classroom :) By the time I become a first year, hopefully you will have lots of experience so I can follow.
